BHC’s team provide CHSP services to clients aged 65 and 50 for Indigenous clients. 

The Commonwealth Home Support Program in Oodnadatta is delivered by Indigenous workers to offer assistance to the older people of the community, with the aim to allow them to remain as independent as possible in their own homes and the community for as long as they can or choose to be.

The services include:
Domestic Assistance: To assist people with domestic chores to maintain their independence to manage everyday activities in a safe, secure and healthy home environment to also aid with their showering, shaving, dressing etc. CHSP can also aid in accessing much needed equipment such as walking frames.

Meals: BHC provides two meals per day and the opportunity for social participation and interaction during the meals.

Social Support (Group): To assist people to participate in community life and feel socially included through structured, group-based activities that develop, maintain or support independent living and social interaction. Shopping assistance will also be provided.

Social Support (Individual): To assist people to maintain independence in community and feel socially included through monitoring their need for social contact and company. Weekly shopping advocacy to social service and technology

Transport: To provide people with access to transport services that support their access to the community and other commitments such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, to and from their home or BAC centre.
