An abandoned pastoral station near Port Augusta is returning to its former glory, thanks to Bungala and our pastoral program. Located 15km outside of Port Augusta, Emeroo Station has been un-used for more than three years, but through our Work for the Dole scheme it’s now got the old infrastructure back and is ready to be used again. Locals have been trained to build fences and sheds and, once sheep are returned to the station, skills such as shearing and animal husbandry will be taught.
In times of a difficult employment climate in Port Augusta, projects like this offer great opportunities for Indigenous workers to find jobs, training and ongoing support.
